Who Invented the Trampoline?

A man named George Nissen was the first person to invite anything resembling a trampoline. George was a gymnast in the 1930s and he and his coach created the first trampoline made out of inner tubing of tires. He wanted to create this to train other gymnasts on developing their skills further. They first started calling the trampoline, Campeon de trampoline. When Did Trampolines Become Popular? Types of Trampolines with Enclosures (update)

Image
Springless Trampoline The Springless designed trampolines have designed the entire surface to jump on. They are available in oval, round and square and the design means that children can not get caught in the springs. These trampolines tend to be in the higher price bracket, but some brands, such as Springfree, come with a 10 year warranty and guarantee that their trampolines can be kept outdoors all year round! If you remember bouncing in the backyard as a kid, you probably never came across one of these trampolines. I sure did not. But their safety features and quality build are making them an up and coming, popular choice. They do take up more room than you might imagine however, but if you are buying a 12 foot model, you have 12 feet of bouncing space, where a traditional round 12 foot trampoline you would have about 10 feet of bouncing space and the other two feet would be springs. After seeing young children bouncing and running around on these, they are a great

So How much is a Trampoline?

Image
If you have gotten this far, then you have probably already found out that trampoline prices can vary from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. The best kids trampoline is the one that suits your family from a use, safety and price perspective. All of the trampoline reviews that I recommend in this guide are full size backyard trampolines and come with safety nets. The prices are determined by the quality of the springs, the mat, the legs, poles and the net. In the case of a cheap trampoline, you want to ensure that the climate where you live will not hinder its performance. For example, harsh winters and summers can break down the foam padding, and heavy storms or snow can damage the safety nets. Keep in mind, a trampoline is an investment so read my trampoline reviews for the best deals on trampolines and then you can make an informed purchase for your children! Something else to consider when it comes to the price of a trampoline is your own children. If you

Types of Trampolines with Enclosures

Image
Until I started looking for a new trampoline that my boys could grow into, I honestly had no idea that there were so many different types of trampolines. I have explained each of them in a bit of detail below, which should help you choose the right style and size for your backyard. Round Trampoline with Net Probably the most popular backyard trampolines with nets are the 12ft or 14ft round trampoline. They have the best value trampolines but also very high quality and expensive trampolines. They come in 8ft, 10ft, 12ft, 14ft, 15ft as well as smaller and larger sizes. If you are looking at a typical trampoline, this will probably be the first one you come across in your search. They are the most common trampolines in backyards today. The ones that I have reviewed below are all large trampolines with nets, but I if you are looking for something that is 8ft or less, check out my small trampolines page. Oval Trampolines In the photo just above this section, you can see an

The Best Trampolines on the Market

Image
The best trampolines offer much fun for the kids and adults equally. The round ones are trendy now, yet the rectangular ones have more bounce but more than one person at a time is not recommended at a time. If you can afford it, bigger is better. A 15-inch trampoline is a popular size for most families. Trampolines are used in Olympic sports by contestants with the best performance skills worldwide. It is too dangerous for competition exercise to be done on a home trampoline for beginners. Get your kids off their cell phone and x-boxes indoors for much needed exercise in the backyard or country setting you might have. Here in the United States we are mindful of the risks involved using trampolines. When your kids are learning how to jump, it’s important to supervise them with a watchful eye. Many sports facilities offer trampoline lessons and you might want to look into that. Here are some astounding numbers for 2003: doctors, hospital emergency rooms, and clini

Things to Consider When Looking for the Best Trampoline

Image
Safety Trampoline safety is the number one factor to think about before you buy a trampoline. It’s only been a little over a decade since the majority of trampolines have started including safety enclosures. Nowadays, it’s uncommon to find a trampoline that does not come standard with one. There’s an even newer area of safety that has grown in popularity over the past few years, Springless trampolines. If you’ve ever jumped on a standard model, then you are probably familiar with the outer ring. The springs give the trampoline its bounce, but also increase the risk of injury. Even with an enclosure, it only prevents kids from hitting the edge or falling off the trampoline. This cannot prevent a leg or arm from getting caught through the gap. Make sure when buying a trampoline to always check out the safety features the trampoline has. If you buy a used trampoline make sure to inspect it thoroughly for any damage it might have. What’s the Best Trampoline – And the Safest

Image
Our backyard trampoline is great fun for our entire family. And great exercise too. With a little research and comparison shopping, we were able to find a great trampoline for our family and yard. We’ve had two of them, plus a small indoor one. Plus we’ve trained youngsters in local gymnastic centers. Of course, that doesn’t make us the “be all and end all” experts. But it does leave us with enough experience to give you a few pointers. Today there is a wide diversity of trampoline manufacturers, shapes and sizes. However, they all seem to be similar. They all claim to be the best trampoline. And it’s hard to tell from a casual look which one is the safest and most durable. I am a bit obsessive (perhaps neurotic?), so I did a lot of homework when choosing our trampolines. For me it was not just about price and size; it was about my children’s safety. After that, I considered the suitability of a particular design for our living space and lifestyle. Read more from Tr

Background & History of Rebounding

Image
Trampoline and tumbling exercises have been around for a very long time and can be traced to archeological drawings found in ancient China, Egypt and Persia. The firs modern trampolines were developed in 1934 by George Nissen and Larry Griswold at the University of Iowa, according to the official website of the Olympic movement. Trampolines were originally used to train astronauts and were used as a training tool for other sports, such as acrobatics, tumbling, diving, gymnastics and freestyle skiing. Eventually, trampolines became so popular to the point of becoming a sport in the Olympic games. The first Trampoline World Championships took place in 1964, and trampoline was first recognized as a sport in the U.S. in 1967. The double mini-trampoline competition was added in 1978 and began as two individual mini-trampolines, separated by a small table covered by a mat. Later, a one-piece unit was developed by Bob Bollinger and is used today as the official equipment for
